Joining her mailing list is “a bit like a lottery. You never know what you will find,” said Michelle. But for thousands of subscribers across Penang and beyond, her newsletter is far more than a list of items for sale. Some even stay on the mailing list to remain connected with a place they once called, or even hope to call, home. With short grey hair, an easy smile and a manner that puts people at ease almost immediately, Michelle’s friendly demeanour makes it easy to understand why so many trust her to manage or clear the contents of their homes. Interestingly, this is a specialisation she fell into by accident.
