Safety in the cities

Rising crime rates are a big worry in all our cities. That much, at least, our urban centres do have in common. Thus, it is only rational for the authorities involved – elected or employed – to work together to make our streets safe. One of our most basic rights is that of physical safety, and it should not fall prey to our leaders’ penchant to politicise every issue.

A horrific incident occurred in April in Shah Alam, Selangor, that will sadly be merely an additional statistic in the growing list of police shootings recorded in recent times.
