Jordan Plofsky is no stranger to Penang. Having been here on various project assignments since 2001, he moved here on expatriate assignment as the senior vice president and general manager of the Altera R&D Centre in 2009. With more than 20 years of leadership experience, spanning from system and technologies to semiconductor and marketing, including positions at LSI Logic, Analog Devices and Harris Corporation, Jordan is a firm believer in leadership development. In this interview, he shares his views on adapting and assimilating to the local environment, its people and the differences between the young workforce in America and Malaysia.
How long have you been in Penang and what were your initial reactions when posted here?
I have been coming to Penang since 2001 on a bi-annual basis, but relocated to Penang in March 2009 for an expatriate assignment as the general manager of our R&D centre here. Visiting and living here are different. From my initial visits over the last decade, I appreciated our staff in Penang as being very good at execution.
