Why Such Fear of Unity?

Negara-ku is a movement that, among other things, aims to promote unity, peace and harmony, and oppose racism, hatred, extremism and violence. It wants to restore hope in multiracial, multi-religious, multi-cultural Malaysia, which is currently being undermined by forces manipulating the issues of race and religion to divide the people.

It is a movement that is made up of more than 60 civil society groups and NGOs. Its leaders are upstanding citizens who have gained prominence by excelling in their respective fields and are concerned about the wellbeing of the nation. It is chaired by Zaid Kamaruddin and has as patrons, former Bar Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan, national laureate A. Samad Said and former vice-chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) Simon Sipaun.
