With its brand new F.I.P. Lounge, which stands for Fun Interactive Play, Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa proves that it can be playful, too.
It was three days after Christmas in Penang. The weather was erratic and the traffic was mad. All I wanted was some coffee and cake.
The timing couldn’t have been better for me, because just down the road from me, Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa had recently launched their F.I.P. (Fun, Interactive and Play) Lounge. The five-star hotel is best known – at least to me – for its deluxe property and extensive luxury facilities, so imagine my surprise when I opened the doors to the lounge and was greeted by seductive lip-shaped cushions, colourful bean bags, an origami folded “tipi tipi tap” menu, selfie corners with 3D murals and a replica of an almost life-sized gorilla.
This lavish hotel is showing its fun side, all the way to its top management staff: Suleiman Tunku Abdul Rahman, the director of communications, was taking pictures of a group of guests celebrating a birthday, donning wigs and other props that the lounge provides for customers. “That’s the idea. We want our guests to have fun here,” he says.
