A pragmatic leader "After the 1969 general elections when he became Chief Minister, he realised that he couldn't work by himself, to get things done he needed to work with the federal government. Soon after the elections, he threw a state dinner in Penang for Tun Razak. He was very good friends with Tun Razak who'd spend many New Years in Penang, these were some of the few times Tun Dr. Lim would let his hair down and celebrate."
